Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program
Sagebrush offers an Intensive Outpatient Program for high school age adolescent/teens from 14 to 19 years of age. This group meets three hours a day, three times weekly on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm to 9pm.
We incorporate the development of mindfulness-based coping skills in a group setting. The curriculum is especially designed with visual and audio stimuli and experiential group activities such as yoga, music and art to keep teens engaged and on track.
This program includes a weekly individual therapy session. Sessions focus on emotional and family attachment theory.
An open discussion group is facilitated once weekly for parents/guardians, separate from the teen group. This group provides education about the disease of addiction and time to process specific challenges faced by the adults in attendance.
Teen group topics include:
- Sober Brain vs. Drug Brain
- Drugs and the Body
- Understanding the Concept of Cross Addiction
- Different Ways to Think
- Effective Communication
- Defense Mechanisms
- Relapse Prevention
- Skills to Refuse Drugs
- Triggers, Cravings, and Crisis Management
- Coping with Emotions, Identifying Needs and Early Recovery Plan
